The Strokes es una banda de indie rock originaria de Nueva York, Estados Unidos, formada en 1998. Tras el lanzamiento de su aclamado álbum debut Is This It en 2001, muchos críticos nombraron al grupo como "Los salvadores del rock". Han vendido más de 8 millones de copias en todo el mundo. Julian Casablancas, vocalista del grupo y Nikolai Fraiture, bajo, eran amigos desde la infancia. Nick Valensi, guitarrista, y Fabrizio Moretti, el baterísta, se conocieron cuando asistian a un concierto de DragonForce.
