✍ Biografía de Def Leppard

Def Leppard es una banda británica originaria de Sheffield, Inglaterra, que comenzó a finales de los años 70, y que alcanzó su éxito en la década de los 80 acercando el heavy metal a las emisoras de radio y al gran público en general, gracias a la mezcla de rock melódico con un gran trabajo vocal. El bajista Rick Savage, el guitarrista Pete Willis y el baterista Tony Kenning todos estudiantes de la escuela Tapton, en Sheffield, Reuno Unido en el año 1977, se unen para formar la banda de rock “Atomic Mass”. Inmediatamente se une a ellos su vocalista, Joe Elliot, quien originalmente debía audicionar para guitarrista de la banda. Adoptan el nombre de “Deaf Leopard” (Leopardo Sordo) gracias a una antigua idea de Elliot, pero la sugerencia de Tony Kenning de modificarlo ligeramente a Def Leppard para evitar la conexión con bandas de punk.
