¿Quién fue James Brown? Nacido un 3 de Mayo de 1933 en Barnwell, Carolina del sur, James Joseph Brown, fue un prodigo cantante y compositor estadounidense. El haber sido uno de los más grandes intérpretes del soul de los años setenta y una figura fundamental en la música negra, le convirtió en el “padrino” del funk de la década siguiente. Niñez, Juventud y Vida Familiar Abandonado por su madre, creció con su padre, un trabajador itinerante, hasta que terminó en Augusta (Georgia), donde una tía regentaba una fonda que también funcionaba como timba y prostíbulo. Se ganaba la vida limpiando zapatos, recogiendo algodón y robando piezas de coches. Su vida estuvo marcada por una serie de problemas con la justicia (posesión de estupefacientes, tenencia de arma de fuego, resistencia a la autoridad).
